nor does it take any content guidance from, the US Army, the City of New York, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, the New York City Fire Department, any
municipal, tourism or non-profit agency.

I do apologize for the numerous negative responses, but these really are the questions we're asked.
Q. What is the purpose of this web site?
A. Please see our About page.
Q. Can you tell me about community events being held on the base?
A. We don't have access to that information.
Q. What are visiting hours for the base?
A. We don't have access to that information. The NYC Parks Department may be able to provide that information.
Q. Who is in charge of the base today?
A. Different parts of the base are under the control of the US Army, the NYC Parks Department, the NYC Fire Department.
Q. Can you give me information about the pool?
A. We have no information of any kind about the pool. [Added 7/13/11]
Q. Can you help me gain access to [any part of] the base?
A. Much of the base has been opened to the public, but not all parts. We don't have any influence with the tenant organizations.
Q. Can you help me contact someone at one of the organizations on the base?
A. We don't have any contacts with the various tenant organizations.
Q. Can you help me find out about someone who was stationed on the base, or might have been stationed here??
A. Other than those who might have joined this web site, we don't have any information on individuals who were stationed on the base.
Q. Can you help me find out about someone who lived or worked on the base, or might have lived or worked here??
A. Other than those who might have joined this web site and have provided public information, we don't have any information on individuals who lived or worked on the base.
Q. Can you help me learn more about a command that was based on Fort Totten?
A. As historical information is organized, it'll be placed on the site.
Q. I'd like to film/videotape/photograph on the base. Who do I contact?
A. For more information, contact the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. [Added 7/13/11]
Q. Can you help me with renting a building on the base?
A. We do not know the status of any temporary or permanent rental facilities.
Q. Do you have a directory of current base tenants?
A. Other than what's on the Links page, there are no current plans to provide further information.
Q. Can you help me obtain medical records, service records, or other documents?
A. We have no association with any organization on the base. [Added 7/13/11]
Q. Can you help me find a job on the base?
A. We're not located on or near the base. You'd need to contact one of the organizations located on the base.
Q. Can you help me find a place to live on or near the base?
A. We're not located on or near the base. There are no civilian or military residences on the base. You'll need to contact a realtor or check the classifieds online or in the local newspapers.
Q. What do you know about the tunnel that supposedly exists (existed) between Forts Totten & Schuyler?
A. Many people have researched this, and there's no credible evidence that such a tunnel was ever planned or designed, or ever existed.
Q. How do you feel about investment or financial partnership to expand the site?
A. If you're serious, let's talk!
Q. Are there any plans to hold a reunion?
A. This would be a pretty big project, and would require financial and logistical support, not to mention political support if we want to hold the event on the base. If enough people are interested, ready, willing and able to help pull it off as a group project, we should give it a try!
